Chiong-Yiao Chen
Printmaking/Gallery Director
Chiong-Yiao Chen has been a Visual Arts faculty member at the 国产AV since 1992. She was trained in design and education at the National Taiwan Normal University and served in secondary education before attaining an MFA in Studio Art at SUNY-Albany. Her experience before teaching in higher education included a stint as a collaborative lithographer at the nation’s oldest non-profit public education facility—the Printmaking Workshop in New York City. She worked on projects by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists such as Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, and Maqbool Fida Husain. During her tenure at UNA, Chiong-Yiao has served as Department Head, taught a variety of traditional art mediums, conducted workshops, and exhibited regionally and nationally. Currently, she wears the hat of the University Gallery Director, and her expanded educational endeavors include curatorial practice, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Civic-minded, Chiong-Yiao actively contributes to the art and design profession as an on-site visitor to NASAD accreditation. She is also an active Rotarian involved in community service.
